Karber's Ridge

Spring Break is finally here and that means Nanu doesn’t have to teach for a week or so. Right now he's sprawled on the sofa, in his PJ's watching an IU game.

Motu (our Siamese cat) sits near his head and Pico (our Beagle) is asleep near his feet. Nanu couldn’t be happier. This is his idea of bliss.

I'm excited because we plan to drive about two hours to a place called Karber's Ridge in Hardin County this weekend. Bill, a friend of ours has just given us the keys to his guest house which sits on a 112 acre farm property surrounded by woods, lakes and all kinds of wildlife.

Bill apparently has his own house and a guest house nearby - on the same property - so that when guests stay over they have their privacy. Obviously this means a lot of people regularly visit him.

Since he's leaving for Paris tomorrow morning, by the time we get there, we'll have the place all to ourselves. This almost feels like a second honeymoon in the making!

Amongst the many things we'll see at Bill's place is a 5 acre pond filled with bass, while deer, fox, rabbits, coyotes, red tail hawks, wild turkey, ground hogs and all kinds of birds inhabit the woods and pastures on the property. Just a hop, skip and a jump away is the Shawnee National Forest and the famous rock formations seen in a place called The Garden of the Gods is less than a mile from his place. Now that’s my idea of bliss! I can’t wait too experience it all.

Are you jealous yet? :)
