To the Circus!

The last time I went to a circus I must have been about 8 years old and it was in India. I was so excited and thrilled to be smearing my face with cotton candy and watching the elephants, lions, monkeys, acrobats and clowns performing for us. I remember spilling my ice-cream all over my clothes and having a lot of fun with my sister and parents.

It sure has been a while since then and now it looks like I’ll be revisiting the circus all over again tonight!

The newspaper I work for had lots of extra circus tickets and did something really nice. They had a raffle drawing a few days ago and I was one of the several lucky people who won 2 tickets! So Nanu and I get to go for the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus in Carbondale today! How exciting!

I realize a lot of people are against circuses – since there is a valid concern about the inhumane treatment of animals.

But hopefully the one I’m going to treats their animals well, since they do have a Center for Elephant Conservation and talk a lot about animal safety and training.
